It’s no great secret that we’re pretty fond of plants…
Like, we’re talking head over heels, shout-it-from-the-rooftops, truly, madly, deeply in love with them. And, it’s not just their gorgeous leafy visage that has us swooning — it’s the many ways plants make our lives healthier and happier.
When we’re not eating our way through delicious, nutritious plants, we’re adorning our home and workspaces with them. From potted cacti to wafty ferns, tiny succulents, and towering monsteras — no matter what shape, size, or form they take, we love our houseplants. And, they love us right back by providing a host of physical and psychological benefits.
Did you know that houseplants help to freshen the air and eliminate toxins? When they breathe, plants absorb carbon dioxide and release clean oxygen (the opposite of us humans!). In fact, the brainiacs at NASA conducted research a few years ago that shows house plants can remove up to 87% of air toxins in just 24hrs. Now, that’s fancy!
Studies have also shown that caring for indoor plants can reduce stress, while simply being around them can improve concentration, boost your mood, improve your sense of wellbeing and even help people recover faster from mental fatigue.
With Covid restrictions, many of us aren’t getting out and into nature as often as we would like, which is all the more reason to bring the outside in with houseplants.
